Café Ara

1,180 SF

BROOKLYN, NY

A coffee shop positioned as the in-between; a quiet support space within the rhythms of daily life.

“Ara” is a Turkish word meaning “in-between,” a concept that frames the project’s spatial approach as a moment of pause within the tempo of everyday life. A restrained material palette of oak, ebonized wood, and tinted glass brick establishes a quiet and grounded base palette. Playful details introduce controlled moments of contrast and shifts in scale. Circulation and seating areas are configured to support both movement and pause within a continuous spatial system, accommodating varied durations of stay.
